A month ago things were sailing right along for Hillary Clinton. She had broadly swept the southern state primaries and seemingly vanquished her opponent.
But then a pale horse appeared on the horizon, and that horse was ridden by Bernie Sanders as he went on his western state roundup. With Sanders having won Wisconsin, Hillary has been sent packing in 7 of the last 8 contests.
So this explains why the cracks have started to show in the cool Hillary veneer. The incident at Suny Purchase, New York illustrates this as Hillary is asked a simple question by a Greenpeace activist to whom Hillary responds by getting up in the woman’s face.
But what is the reason for all the anger if the charges are untrue? And why does she not answer the question? Her non-answer also demonstrates a troubling memory lapse. According to Greenpeace, Clinton’s campaign has received more than 4.5 million dollars from the fossil fuel industry. So who is the prevaricator?
But now the strain of the pressure has Mrs. Clinton charging in a recent interview that she’s not really sure if Sanders is even a democrat. This begs the question: What is a democrat?
According to the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic credo is this:
Democrats believe that we’re greater together than we are on our own- that this country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same rules. Our party, led by President Obama, is focused on building an economy that lifts up all Americans, not just those at the top.
Judging from this mission statement, Mr. Sanders’ campaign platform of social justice and election financing reform appears to be the truest to democratic principles, and this is an unfortunate fact that seems to be haunting Mrs. Clinton right now.
